I’ve been experimenting with a jewelry rotary tumbler for polishing silver rings and small brass parts, and the results have been surprisingly good. One thing I learned quickly is not to overload the barrel. Keeping the right balance between media, water, and pieces makes a huge difference in the final finish.

I also found that longer tumbling times don’t always mean better polishing. Sometimes softer metals start losing sharp detail if left too long. For anyone starting out, stainless steel shot with a little burnishing soap has worked great for me so far.

What media combinations are you all using?
